This is the weblog from Johnny Schoofs. Belgian dancer, choreographer and teacher, working and living in Rotterdam.

I started my dance education at the Rotterdam Dansacademie. After my graduation I continued to work within the Dutch dance scene and danced with companies such as Djazzex, Leine & Roebana, and de Stilte. As a freelancer I made strong and successful collaborations with several choreographers, like Uri Ivgi, Bruno Listopad, Maaike van Dijk, Lonneke van Leth, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Neel Verdoorn, *[W(E)GO]*. The last three years I worked as a performing member of Liquid Loft, an Austrian based contemporary dance/art company formed by Chris Haring, and still perform regularly one of their productions “Running Sushi” at international venues.

At the moment I am part of  the International Feldenkrais Training Program in Munich which is educating me to become a professional practitioner of the Feldenkrais method. I am also involved in the certified training program Vocal Dance & Voice Movement Integration Amsterdam with Patricia Bardi, with the intention to become a registered Somatic Movement Therapist/Educator recognized professionally by ISMETA – International Somatic Movement Education & Therapy.

Recently I started to develop my choreographic interest at Dansateliers Rotterdam, a dance-work place for young choreographers in Holland. As part of the second edition of One Night’s Dance, I presented the solo “Iron John”, which was a first attempt to make a selfportrait. Later in the season I continued the research with “Performing Portraits”, where three solo’s were made for three different dancers. Beginning 2010 there will be a 5-week research to have a new look at the solo “Iron John”. Till then you may see me appearing unexpected in the building of Dansateliers around the performances of other choreographers. This blog will try to inform you about these little events….

Next to performing and choreographing I am teaching improvisation, dancetechnique and Feldenkrais in Rotterdam and the rest of Holland.
